About

SteamOS is a Debian-based Linux operating system by Valve Corporation and is the primary operating system for Valve's Steam Machine gaming hardware platform. It was released alongside the start of end-user beta testing of Steam Machines in December 2013.

VirtualBox

This OperatingSystem has been installed in VirtualBox. This did not end up working. Install would not complete. The virtual machine kept getting "aborted".

Installing this right now. Seems to have moved along farther than it did on VirtualBox.

I got through the installation fine, but now I can't get the VM to start. Do I need to remove the .iso file from the folder or the optical drive from the VM?

Maybe?

One ray of sunshine. I got it to boot into recovery mode. Won't boot into GUI. Tried running apt-get update and got a lot of errors. Can this command not be run in recovery mode? Should Google that as well as the errors in the output of the update command.

The search turned up useless results.

Now looking into trying to install SteamOS on top of another OS.

Looks like SteamOS on Ubuntu is super easy to set up.

The problem I'm running into is that the Ubuntu VM is really difficult to interact with inside the browser. The mouse does not seem to click all the time. I think the OS might be set to touchscreen input?

Tried disabling touchscreen but it did not seem to work?

It seems more like the cursor is offset from where it appears.
