My current goal is to find a startup partner. I want to be successful and in order to do that I believe I need to create that success, not wait for it to be created or attach myself to someone else's success. There's not a job waiting for me out there that can't be done by some other rank and file kid coming out of design school so I have to carve my own niche, my own job, out of the world. I should be part of the cutting edge. I should be the new thing on the horizon before anyone else knows it's coming.

Obviously I can't do it all on my own though. I need someone with skills in addition to my own, specifically web design. It's unfortunate that print is where I began my education but that's where I am and that's where I'll go. It's too late to change paths now. But that doesn't stop me from taking the skills I've learned and hitching them to another wagon. Not to say that this prospective partner will be the one holding the reigns. Ideally we would have an equal partnership.

So that is the goal for now. We'll find an idea that we can execute together with our combined skills and maybe the skills of others and take it as far as we can or as far as is profitable for us.

The search begins now, but where? My first thought was to consult a member of the faculty in my department. They may have students they value our that may have certain talents that may lead them in that direction. We'll see.
